About & Facilities

About The Old Mill Bere Regis

The Old Mill Bed and Breakfast is situated in Bere Regis, on the edge of the Purbecks and just 10 minutes from Monkey World and The Tank Museum. Our cosy Dorset Bed and Breakfast offers peace and seclusion in the beautiful Purbeck countryside.
Built circa 1750, The Old Mill has been carefully renovated and converted using traditional building techniques. This cosy Mill benefits from being located in a quiet village ensuring a peaceful stay, far from the madding crowd. Each of our rooms is furnished to ensure your comfort. All rooms are en-suite with free-view TV along with all the other little necessities that make your stay more comfortable including free internet access and tea and coffee making facilities.

There is a choice of breakfasts available which can be served in the breakfast room or weather permitting, on the patio. We take care to source local ingredients for our cooked breakfasts and will do our best to cater for any special dietary requirements. Our jams and preserves and honey are homemade, and available to purchase perhaps as a thank you, whilst fresh eggs are provided by our happy hens that are free to roam our garden. We take pride in welcoming couples, singles and family parties into our home and providing them with a cosy and comfortable stay in the Dorset countryside.Jenson

The Old Mill makes a great base for walkers following the South Coast Path, or exploring the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, or for mountain bikers who want to explore our local network of bridle paths.

Just down the road is Monkey World, made famous in the television series Monkey Business. Also nearby is the world famous Tank Museum.

For National Trust members the area is full of potential. Corfe Castle and Studland Beach are 30 and 40 minutes away, respectively. Kingston Lacey is just up the road. In addition there is Athelhampton House to explore, or you could take a slightly longer trip to beautiful Salisbury and its magnificent cathedral.

Bournemouth, Swanage and Weymouth all offer the traditional delights of the seaside for young and old.

For the business person, Bere Regis is centrally located between the business centres of Poole and Bournemouth to the East and Dorchester and Yeovil to the West.

The Breakfast Room

Breakfast Room 2

Situated on the ground floor is where the original mill stream used to enter the building and turn the mill wheel. Some of the original features are still visible, and the course of the millstream can be seen through a glass plate in the floor. Tables may be set for group and family eating, or individually for couples or singles.

Breakfast is usually served between 8.00 am and 9.30 am, but please ask if you would like to arrange an earlier start. Our breakfast bar has cereals, juices, yoghurt, toast, tea and coffee making facilities for guests to help themselves.

A cooked breakfast, whether a “Full English”, or just a poached or scrambled egg, may be ordered the night before. Just let us know what you fancy and we’ll try to provide it. All our produce is locally sourced wherever possible.
